Our Teachers

Martine

Martine Spurrier – Koala Group 4YO Educator

Martine holds a Diploma of Primary Teaching & Graduate Diploma of Early Childhood Teaching and has more than 10 years working with 3 and 4 year children.
 
Her teaching career began in Sydney working in a long day care setting.  In 2010 she moved back to her grass roots of Melbourne (Brighton), and commenced working at Brighton Baptist Kindergarten.
 
Martine has a keen interest to see children’s’ confidence and happiness, their abilities and love of learning flourish from their kindergarten experience. Martine holds a strong belief that children learn from exposure to a variety of stimuli and experiences and she loves dramatisation and storytelling.
  
Annette Lavati
Koala and Possum Group 4YO Co Educator

Annette currently works in both our Possum and Koala groups as the educator. She is extremely experienced having worked for more than 20 years in private community kindergartens locally. Annette is warm and nurturing person, who will  at any one time have many children piled on her knee or as close to her as they can get.  With a passion for all things educational, her can do attitude helps to bring joy to the classroom everyday. 

 Robyn MacRedmond

Wombat Group 4YO Educator

Robyn joined our team in 2019 as the new teacher for the Wombat group.  Originally trained as a primary school teacher, Robyn spent many years working with the younger year levels in both London and Australian primary schools.  With a passion for the early years, Robyn retrained and has been working as a kindergarten teacher for the past 5 years.  Her extensive experience as a prep teacher equips her with the skills to ensure the children at Brighton Baptist will be school ready.  She believes that children need to be respected and guided through exciting learning experiences with a combination of intentional teaching and opened ended experiences.  Her knowledge and passion provides all children with the tools to embrace the love of learning every day. 

 
Kate

Kate Kenny – Wombat Group 4YO Co Educator

Kate joined our team at Brighton Baptist Kindergarten at the beginning of 2013. She adores working with children and believes that kindergarten should be a fun, engaging experience where children have the opportunity to explore, socialise and learn about themselves and others.
 
She has a particular interest in literature in early literacy and loves reading and discovering books with the children.Kate has two children of her own and loves camping with family and friends.
 
Maria

Maria Carpino – Possum Group Educator

Maria Carpino joins Brighton Baptist Kindergarten in 2013 from her previous kindergartens where she has worked for more than 4 years.  Maria worked for Bruthen Street Kindergarten and Livingston Kindergarten as their relief teacher and assistant before joining us and brings a wealth of professional and personal family experience to our kindergarten.
 
Maria has a gentle caring approach to 3YO kindergarten and believes that helps her child to feel secure and engage in the program. She is looks forward to meeting all her new 3YO children and their families as they begin an exciting new stage in their lives.
 
 

Michelle Glover 

Possum Group Teacher & Wombat Educator 

Michelle joined our teaching team at the beginning of 2018 bringing a wealth of experience to this group.  Working at another local kindergarten in the Bayside area, Michelle’s extensive knowledge of the learning frameworks has definitely benefited this program.  Michelle has a nurturing very hands on approach to teaching which compliments the 3YO program as these first-time learners begin their educational journey.  Michelle joins the Wombat Group this years and also runs our extended care program.  The energy and passion that she brings to our program everyday is a blessing and the children just adore her.  

 
Heather

Heather Forster  – PMP coach and lunch assistant

Heather completed her Certificate III in Children’s Services in 2012 and works in both groups delivering the Perceptual Motor Program (PMP) to help develop gross motor skills and in the wombat group as the lunch reliever.
 
Heather is a professional tennis coach and loves playing ball games and setting up obstacle course for the children to enjoy each week.  She focuses on developing the children’s gross and fine motor skills by creating structure active play activities for all children to participate in. Heather is a very experienced educator and works at both St Mary’s Kindergarten and Brighton Baptist Kindergarten.
